During our recent river cleanup in Sidoarjo, East Java, we collected 5 tons of waste in 4 days, 3 tons of which were diapers! Unfortunately, it is very common for diapers to be thrown in rivers in Indonesia because of the local ‘suleten’ myth (if diapers are burnt or thrown in landfills, it will make the baby sick).
