The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities prohibits the participation of people with disabilities in armed conflicts unless they are fully capable of participating voluntarily and on equal terms with other combatants. Sending civilians with disabilities to participate in war is considered a violation of human rights and international laws of war, and those responsible for such action can be tried and punished for war crimes.
